Year 7 Students in Mr Hunt's class have recently completed their next coding assignment using the BBC Micro:bit. They worked through a complicated set of instructions and problem solved their way to create a digital compass, utilizing the accelerometer component housed within the circuit board. This is a component which is commonly used in mobile devices to determine device orientation and screen rotation. The L.E.D screen displayed the Letters N, E, S, W when rotated to the correct angle. Again there was an incredibly high success rate and students really enjoyed the challenge.
Special commendation has to go to Chukwunwike Edozie, who managed to extend his learning and include extra lines of code so that the Micro:bit could also determine NE, SE, SW, NW rotation.
